About PixelShield - We Exist Because Consent Banners Failed
PixelShield is a prevention-based tracking pixel protection platform that uses default-deny architecture to stop user-identifiable information from entering the data pipeline. Since , over 4,300 tracking pixel lawsuits have been filed resulting in $235M+ in documented settlements. 522 retail cases. Congressional investigations into tax prep firms sending SSNs to Facebook. The consent-based approach didn't work. Proxy solutions still collect data first. We built something that prevents collection entirely.
The Problem Wasn't a Lack of Privacy Tools. It Was the Wrong Architecture.
Organizations had consent banners, privacy policies, and cookie management platforms. They still got sued. Because none of those tools actually stop tracking pixels from transmitting data - they just ask visitors for permission to be tracked.
What wasn't working
Consent banners average 23% opt-in. The other 77% of your visitors are unprotected - and still generating per-visitor statutory liability.
Cookie management platforms rely on the pixel vendors to honor opt-out signals. Many don't. The Adidas court ruled that a footer privacy policy doesn't count as valid consent.
Proxy/server-side solutions still collect user-identifiable information first, then attempt to scrub it before forwarding. The data enters the pipeline. It touches servers. It requires BAAs. And if the scrubbing misconfigures or misses a field, you're liable.
Removing pixels entirely means marketing goes dark. No attribution, no conversion tracking, no ROAS. CMOs won't accept that trade-off.
What we built instead
Prevention, not collection-then-scrubbing. User-identifiable information never enters the data pipeline. It's not collected, stored, processed, or forwarded. It doesn't exist in transit. You can't leak what was never captured.
Client-side enforcement. Runs entirely in the visitor's browser - before data ever leaves. No proxy servers. No BAA required. No infrastructure that touches sensitive data. The protection happens at the source, not downstream.
Marketing analytics preserved. Explicit allowlists pass the data your marketing team needs - account IDs, event types, UTM parameters. Full campaign attribution without individual visitor identity.
Industry-agnostic. The same architecture protects a hospital, a retailer, a news publisher, a bank, and a university equally. Because the lawsuits use the same statutes against all of them.
The fundamental difference:
Proxy and server-side solutions collect sensitive data first, then try to scrub it before passing it along. That means the data exists - on their servers, in their logs, in transit. If scrubbing fails, if a new field isn't accounted for, if configuration drifts - the data leaks. PixelShield prevents user-identifiable information from being collected in the first place. Prevention is always more secure than collection-then-scrubbing.
We've Studied the Lawsuits So You Don't Have To
We've analyzed hundreds of tracking pixel complaints, settlements, and court rulings across every industry. That research informs everything we build - and everything we advise our clients on.
Pixel lawsuits filed nationwide since
In documented pixel settlements across all industries
States with active pixel tracking cases
States with comprehensive privacy laws
Our industry pages document specific cases, settlements, and legal frameworks for healthcare, retail, media, financial services, and education.
Marketing. Legal & Compliance. IT. All at the Same Table.
Tracking pixel liability sits at the intersection of marketing, legal, compliance, and technology. We built PixelShield to satisfy all of these stakeholders simultaneously - because a solution that any one of them rejects doesn't work.
For Marketing Teams
Your pixels stay in place. Your analytics still work. Session counts, conversion rates, campaign attribution, ROAS, and channel performance are fully preserved. You lose individual visitor identity - which is exactly the data creating the lawsuits.
Bottom line: Full marketing visibility without the liability.
For Legal & Compliance
Default-deny means no personal data reaches third parties - eliminating the core element of CIPA, VPPA, ECPA, and state wiretap claims. Evidence-ready audit logs document every interception event. No BAA required because we never touch sensitive data.
Bottom line: Defensible architecture backed by litigation-grade documentation.
For IT & Security
One script tag. Less than 12ms page load impact. Client-side only - no server infrastructure, no data processing, no attack surface expansion. 19 protection layers operating simultaneously. Works on any platform, any CMS, any tech stack.
Bottom line: Deploys in minutes, runs at browser speed, zero infrastructure overhead.
What Sets PixelShield Apart
Default-Deny, Not Pattern-Scrub
Most competitors scrub known patterns from known trackers. We block everything by default and allowlist only what you need. Unknown trackers are handled automatically - no database updates required.
Client-Side, Not Server-Side
PixelShield runs in the visitor's browser. We never touch, store, or process your data. No BAA required. No data flows through our servers. No additional attack surface.
Industry-Agnostic by Design
We don't build separate products for healthcare, retail, and media. The same default-deny architecture eliminates liability under CIPA, VPPA, ECPA, CCPA, and state wiretap laws - regardless of your industry.
No Feature Gatekeeping
Every client gets the same 19 protection layers. We don't charge more for "advanced compliance" or "enterprise security." A small clinic gets the same defense as a Fortune 500 retailer.
Marketing Analytics Preserved
We don't ask marketing teams to go dark. Explicit allowlists pass campaign attribution, conversion events, and performance data through. You lose liability, not visibility.
Case Law Expertise
We've analyzed hundreds of pixel tracking lawsuits, settlements, and court rulings. Our product is informed by what courts are actually ruling - not theoretical compliance frameworks.
The Litigation Wave Isn't Slowing Down. Your Protection Shouldn't Wait.
Every day without protection is another day of unauthorized data transmission - and another day of accumulating per-visitor statutory liability. Let us show you exactly what your tracking pixels are doing right now.
